‎Nigeria Climb Three Laces In New FIFA Rankings Despite World Cup Failure

‎Nigeria have climbed three spots to 38th in the new FIFA rankings released on Wednesday.

‎In the past month, the Super Eagles played two competitive matches.

‎Eric Chelle’s men thrashed Gabon 4-1 in the 2026 World Cup playoff semi-final. They then played a 1-1 draw with the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final, before losing 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out.

‎Despite failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, those results were enough to nudge the Super Eagles up the table.

‎Nigeria’s new points total stands at 1,502.46, placing the country fifth among African nations behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria.

‎Morocco remain Africa’s top side in the world ranking with 1,713.12 points, Senegal sit 19th with 1,648.07 points, Egypt are 34th on 1,520.68, and Algeria occupy 35th on 1,516.37.
