‎Obi Can’t Win 2027 Election With Sympathy Votes Says DeeOne

‎Comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate, DeeOne, has urged former Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to reassess his approach for the 2027 election, stating that relying on sympathy votes will not give him the victory.

‎In a viral video, DeeOne criticised Obi’s campaign strategy, saying the approach used in the previous election would not yield the same results in 2027.

‎DeeOne’s comments followed the emergence of the City Boy Movement, a group supporting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, which includes some prominent Obi supporters.

‎According to the comedian, Obi needs to be more willing to invest in his campaign, citing the struggles of his agents in the 2023 election.

‎DeeOne stated that if Obi lacks funds, he should consider alternative options, such as seeking donations from his followers.

‎He said, “If you want Mr Peter Obi to do well in the coming 2027 election, let us tell him the truth. You cannot win presidential election with sympathy votes. It may have given him some leverage in the last election, but in the 2027 election, it is not going to work.

‎“I’m not saying that you should not buy groundnuts Mr Peter Obi, I’m not saying that you should not price groundnuts but all those strategies will not work again. The worst Mr Peter Obi will make or anybody supporting him will make is to look down on this City Boy movement. Look at what they’re doing, it’s not a joke. Presidential election no be cho cho cho. You have to show workings.

‎“The government is only saying no to vote buying, no be campaign. Just imagine, Labour Party agents during the last election did not see water to drink at poling unit. They did not see food to chop, what kind of thing is that? If Mr Peter Obi does not have his own money to spend on his own ambition, then he should call his own followers and ask them to donate and he will give account of how he spent the money. No be say, you go say eeh we no dey spend shi shi.

‎“You no dey spend shi shi, are you the one on the field. Are you risking your life to count the vote? People are doing that, at least they should get something to eat. Do you know that it was other parties that gave Labour Party agents food and water to drink during the last election. Or should we bring out evidence? Come on, my people, telling Mr Peter Obi the truth doesn’t mean you don’t like him. It only means that you want him to do well in the next election.”
