The Cross River State police command has detained six individuals suspected of being Ambazonian rebels.
The command announced on Saturday that the arrests took place after the suspects invaded the Akamkpa Local Government Area of the state.
Reports indicate that Ambazonia is a political entity declared by Anglophone separatists who are seeking independence from Cameroon.
Since 2017, Ambazonian rebels have been engaged in armed conflict with the Cameroonian military during what is known as the Anglophone Crisis.
Commenting on the arrests, police spokesperson Ewa Igri stated that the suspects, aged between 18 and 36, were displayed alongside various weapons, improvised explosive devices, boots, charms, and flags.
He noted that the separatists were apprehended based on intelligence information, describing this achievement as a significant breakthrough for law enforcement.
