Sunday Sermon: Consequences Of Giving Up by Bishop Dr Gbenga Barnabas

INTRODUCTION: Giving up is stoppage of efforts, refusal to continue or being tired of something.

There are consequences of giving up particularly at the eleventh hour.

Let us examine some reasons for giving up and consequences attached to them.

1) IMPATIENCE Inability to wait anymore.
Israelites impatience concerning the delay of Moses from coming back from Mt Sinai led the people to Idolatry.
The consequence is God consumed thousands of the people and they missed out from entering the promised land. (Ex.32)

2) LUSTFULNESS AND INSENSITIVITY
Due to uncared attitude of Saul and spiritual insensitivity, he gave up his birthright for a single meal.
This left him with a life time regret as he missed out his rightful inheritance. (Heb. 12: 16-17)

3) PAST DISAPPOINTMENTS
Refusing to forget past disappointments or past failures can make one develop doubt in God.

The Israelites via fear, murmurings and disobedience in the wilderness made thousands to missed out from seeing and enjoying the land that flows with milk and honey. What a loss. (Numbers 13 :13 & Numbers 14: 2-4)

Let me conclude by encouraging believers that, we must not give up because:-
A- God is too faithful to fail, HE fulfils all HIS promises. (Psm 145:13)
HE is God and not an unreliable man. (Numbers 23:19)
B- God’s timing is perfect.
HE operates on HIS perfect time table, thereby making everything beautiful in its time. (Eccl. 3:11) Wait on and for God.
C- God’s love for mankind is agape, unconditional, unbreakable and unfailing.
HIS love for us compels HIM to act in our best interest in times of challenges. (Isaiah 54:10)
PROPHETIC PRAYERS.

CHALLENGES OF LIFE WILL NOT PUSH US TO DO THINGS THAT WILL ROB US OF OUR PROGRAMMED GLORIOUS FUTURE IN JESUS NAME AMEN.
