Pastor Chris Oyakhilome spoke bitterly about Nigerian gospel artistes for using the Church and God’s name to make money.
Nigerian Pastor, televangelist and President of Love World Incorporated , Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has expressed strong disapproval of gospel artistes who prioritize financial gain over their spiritual mission.
Speaking recently, Christian Oyakhilome, known as Pastor Chris accused some gospel singers of exploiting the church and God’s name for personal profit.
The Pastor revealed that he had to server ties with certain artistes who according to him, charged exorbitant fees to perform during church services.
“They used the church to make money because they overcharged for singing. I had to send them away”, he stated.
He further criticized their actions, noting that their primary focus was on financial returns rather than the spiritual objective of winning souls for Christ.
“They’ll collect huge money to perform in over four churches in a single Sunday. Immediate they are done singing, they move to the next church. They don’t even wait for prayers or preaching”, Pastor Chris lamented.
He emphasized that gospel music is meant to glorify God and not to serve as a platform for personal enrichment.
“You are singing for God, and you will deny coming to perform because money is not complete? You are not doing God’s work, he said passionately.
Pastor Chris who is also the Founder of Christ Embassy, reiterated that he confronted the artistes about their behavior, urging them to refocus on the spiritual essence of their calling.
However, their unwillingness to change left him no choice but part ways with them.
“I told them this was for the Glory of God, not theirs, and they were not willing to change, so I let them go”, he concluded.
His remarks have sparked conversations within the Christian community about the balance between financial compensations and spiritual responsibilities of the gospel artistes.
