The village head of Madaka community and 20 others in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have been killed in an attack by terrorists.
The incident, which occurred around 3 pm on Thursday, saw more than 50 houses and several cars and motorcycles burnt down.
The terrorists were said to have invaded the community through the market as it was their market day and burnt down the market before proceeding into the community.
The terrorists shot sporadically and there are unconfirmed reports that a number of people were abducted from the market.
The district head, Alhaji Isah Bawale, confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Minna, the state capital, in a telephone interview.
When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Niger State, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said he would verify and get back.
He had, however, not done so at press time.
