Wike Alerts Fubara, Says You’re already down 2-0. More are coming’

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has alerted his successor as Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara that his troubles are not over.

“You’re already down, 2-0. But more are still coming”, Wike said to a cheering large crowd at a reception organized by the Kalabari people in Rivers on Saturday.

DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS monitored the reception live on television.

Wike spoke against the background of Supreme Court judgement which recognized the Martin Amaewhule led State House of Assembly populated by his loyalists as the authentic legislative chamber for the state.

The Supreme Court had also in the judgement ordered stoppage of federal allocation to the Rivers State Government until Fubara presented the state’s 2025 Appropriation Bill to the Amaewhule House for approval.

However, the Governor’s effort to present the appropriation document to the House of Assembly was frustrated last Wednesday as he he was allowed into the legislative chamber.

The Governor has written the Assembly, indicating his readiness to present the budget.

But on Friday, members of the Assembly embarked on recess after approving three bills.

The Minister had also said he will not stop the Rivers House of Assembly from performing its constitutional duty in obvious reference to the alleged plan by the lawmakers to impeach Governor Fubara.

Wike, had in an interview earlier in the week said there is nothing wrong if members of Rivers House of Assembly decided to impeach Fubara. He had argued that impeachment is part of the Nigerian constitution. Nigerian entertainment events

Wike also rejected pleas to him to toe the path of peace on the crisis in Rivers as he accused the Governor of instigating the problem.

He accused Fubara of surrounding himself with people who are giving him bad advice and who want to take over his job as governor.

The Minister also used the occasion to clarify that his recent statement about the Ijaw people was about the need for cooperation between the various ethnic groups in the Niger Delta.
