2027: Our Governorship Candidate Yet To Be Selected, Oyo APC Declares

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has denied claims that Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, has been selected by party leaders as the consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The party described the reports as mere media speculation and urged the public to disregard them.

The rumour suggested that Senator Alli was endorsed as the APC consensus candidate during a meeting at the Lagos residence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, an aide to the Minister of Power, Otunba Femi Awogboro, a leading gubernatorial aspirant in the state, clarified that no such meeting occurred, noting that the gathering was only a Sallah visit to the President.

Awogboro further emphasized that Adelabu remains the strongest choice among aspirants vying for the governorship seat.

Speaking to DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS, APC Publicity Secretary in Oyo State, Olawale Sadare, reiterated that the party has not picked any candidate. He added that the focus is currently on the party’s Zonal Convention in Lagos tomorrow, followed by the National Convention in Abuja.

He said, “Im not aware of any meeting which someone was said to have been picked as the party’s consensus candidate for 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.

“When its time, candidate of the party will definitely emerge among the aspirants. We don’t react to media speculations and mere rumour.”
