‎Accord Candidate Hamzat Begins Campaign

‎The governorship candidate of Accord Party in Oyo State, Dr Oriyomi Hamzat, has begun campaign ahead of the 2027 general election, receiving support from members of his support group in the United States.

‎The Oriyomi Support Group, USA Chapter, declared its backing for Hamzat, describing him as a grassroots politician, whose years of humanitarian activities and advocacy for social justice had endeared him to residents of the state.

‎The body said some of its members had returned to Nigeria to participate in voter registration and support the candidate’s campaign ahead of the polls.

‎In a statement, the group’s USA Coordinator I, Mrs Toyosi Oladipo, said its endorsement was based on Hamzat’s record of community service, human rights advocacy and philanthropy.

‎She said: “We proudly support Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat as he explores a potential run for governor of Oyo State. For many years, we have watched him serve communities with courage, compassion and integrity.

‎”His commitment to human rights, social justice and philanthropy has uplifted families. Our support reflects what we have witnessed: a leader who listens deeply, acts boldly and treats public service as a moral responsibility.

‎”We encourage the people of Oyo State to stay informed and consider the kind of leadership that strengthens our shared future.”

‎The group’s Coordinator II, Alhaja Rashidat Aina, described Hamzat as a grassroots politician, who understood the challenges facing ordinary residents.

‎She said: “He is rooted in the grassroots in Oyo State and is the closest candidate to the people. He is the only one among other candidates who understands the needs of grassroots people. That was why he was called by his people to come and serve them.

‎”He is a true symbol of democracy. The government of the people, by the people and for the people. I have a strong belief that he will serve them accordingly as the governor of Oyo State in 2027 if he is given the chance.”

‎As part of its support for the campaign, the group has donated branded T-shirts and caps to the campaign team.

‎Hamzat, a broadcaster and human rights activist, is expected to campaign on his record of humanitarian activities, grassroots engagement and advocacy for local government autonomy.

‎His supporters also cited his involvement in establishing institutions aimed at supporting families and improving livelihoods as part of the experience they believe will inform his proposed administration.
