‎‎Ace Musician Davido Boasts ‘APC’s Fadahunsi, Wole Oke won’t return to National Assembly as long as I’m alive’

‎Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that Senator Francis Fadahunsi and House of Representatives member Oluwole Oke will not return to the National Assembly, reacting to a social media post predicting the lawmakers’ political future.

‎Davido made the remark on Tuesday in response to a post on X by a user identified as @Tobilola_.

‎The user had written: “Fada and Wole Oke showed capacity sha. They’ll be returning to the national assembly, I’m afraid.”

‎Quoting the post, Davido replied: “Not with me alive.”

‎Fadahunsi represents Osun East Senatorial District in the Senate, while Oke is the member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

‎Both Osun lawmakers are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

‎Davido’s comment comes days after the August 15 Osun governorship election won by Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is the singer’s uncle. Fadahunsi and Oke were among APC figures who opposed Adeleke’s re-election bid during the contest.

‎The singer’s reaction also followed recent comments by Oke on why the APC had yet to congratulate Adeleke after the election.

‎Speaking during an interview with Arise News on Monday, Oke, who served as Director-General of the APC governorship campaign in Osun State, said the party was still reviewing the election outcome before deciding on its next step.

‎He stated that although President Bola Tinubu had congratulated Adeleke after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the result, the APC campaign organisation was focused on examining the electoral process.

‎“And like I’ve told you that what we are doing, even for future, for records, is to conduct a thorough review of the entire process and then form our opinion.

‎“We won’t be under any sort of pressure to easily reach out to congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke,” Oke said.

‎He added: “We do not agree with the declaration of INEC. That’s our position for now. We believe he did not score the highest valid votes.”

‎INEC declared Adeleke, the Accord candidate, winner of the election after he secured 511,067 votes. APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji polled 444,815 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, received 17,180 votes.

‎The result showed that Adeleke won in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11 councils.

‎Following the declaration, Adeleke said he expected a congratulatory call from Oyebamiji, describing such a move as the “civilised thing to do.”

‎Responding to questions on the issue, Oke maintained that the APC campaign team would first complete its assessment of the election before taking any further action.

‎“When you have a project of this nature with the outcome announced by INEC, we will not be in a haste, nor shall we be under pressure without doing the needful,” he said.

‎Oke disclosed that the party had already started reviewing election materials and directed its agents across the state to submit relevant documents for verification.

‎“We have embarked on an audit process. We have asked all our party agents to submit copies of Forms EC8A, B, and C to our secretariat for review. We need to inspect the materials,” Oke said.
