‎APC Rules Out Automatic Ticket For National Assembly Members

‎The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed speculation that the party is considering automatic tickets for National Assembly members ahead of future elections.

‎He made this clarification during a media chat monitored by DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS in Abuja.

‎“There is no automatic ticket in our constitution. The party cannot promise an automatic ticket,” the APC chairman said.

‎He stressed that both the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act clearly define how candidates must emerge.

‎“There’s no automatic ticket in our constitution. The constitution of the party does not provide for automatic tickets, and the party cannot wishfully promise automatic ticket to anyone.

‎“The Electoral Act also does not provide for automatic ticket. It says all primaries must be either by consensus or by direct primaries,” he said.

‎According to him, all aspirants within the party would be subjected to the same process without exception.

‎“All members of our party will undergo the same process. We will use the Electoral Act, our party guidelines, and constitution to get people to participate in primaries,” he added.

‎The APC chairman noted that performance would be a deciding factor for those seeking re-election.

‎“The people and party members will judge those who have performed very well,” he said.
