‎Bishop Onyemara Tasks Nigerians On Resilience, Resourcefulness As Way  Out of Economic Logjam

‎****As Methodist Diocese of Kubwa Ends 14th Annual Synod

‎Nigerians have been urged to show resilience, resourcefulness, and absolute faith in God in order to survive the nation’s present economic situation.

‎The Executive Secretary of the Christian Council of Nigeria, Rt Revd Evans Onyemara PhD, gave the advise in a sermon with the theme: “I Will Fight For You”, during the Thanksgiving service to round off the 14th Annual Diocesan Synod of Methodist Diocese of Kubwa hosted at Bethel Methodist Church, Angwandodo, Gwagwalada, Abuja.

‎Citing the story of the encounter between the Israelites and the Egyptians at the Red Sea, Bishop Onyemara, assured Nigerians that God that fought for Israelites will fight for Nigeria and Nigerians no matter the challenges we are encountering.

According to him, “For God to fight for you, you must be honest. God fights the cause of the innocent. It is God’s grace that has kept us as God’s people despite the present economic situation. We need to show resilience, resourcefulness, be a people of faith, start small and trust God totally as Nigerians.”

‎He stated that “God is bigger than every mountain. We bother ourselves at every challenge of life, as humans; but men and women of faith, will not be afraid, for God is able to attend to all our challenges,” noting that It is important that we listened to the prompting of the Holy Spirit of God in us for direction whenever we are faced with issues of life.

‎He then reassured the congregation that the 14th Annual Synod is a blessing, for the hosts and delegates.

‎The Synod Thanksgiving was led by the Diocesan Lay President, Elder James Uchechukwu Duru, with the Diocesan  Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. F. A. G. Onoja blessing the congregants to conclude the Synod activities.


The 14th Annual Synod commenced on Thursday April 16th 2026, and it attracted Delegates from all the five Circuits and four sections that made up the Diocese.

Several resolutions to enhance evangelism and soul winning as well as physical development of the Diocese were arrived at in the four-day meeting.

Highlights of the service was rendition of special anthem by the Church Choir.
