The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, NSCDC, has arrested a 43-year-old non-teaching staff member of a public primary school in Ilorin over allegations of impregnating a 14-year-old pupil in primary four, DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports.

The suspect, identified as Amuda Olubukola, was taken into custody after the command’s Gender Unit received a complaint and commenced an investigation.

Confirming the development in a statement issued, the command’s spokesperson, Micheal Ayoola, said the case was reported after the victim’s mother raised concerns that her daughter was pregnant.

Ayoola said preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the suspect, who is assisting investigators as inquiries continue.

Reacting to the incident, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Abbas Mohammed, condemned the alleged act, describing it as a serious violation of the trust placed in school personnel.

He stressed that educational institutions must remain safe environments for children and warned that anyone found culpable of offences involving minors would face the full weight of the law.

The command added that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect would be charged in court if sufficient evidence is established at the conclusion of the probe.
