The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has announced the lifting of the ban on Christian pilgrimage to Israel.
The NCPC suspended Christian pilgrimage to the Holy Land in February this year following the outbreak of the US-Israel-Iran conflict.
A statement by the Media and Public Relations Director of NCPC, Mr. Celestine Torukan, on Saturday, said Adegbite made the declaration at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem on 1st August, 2026.
“I promised everyone that I would be here to see what is happening in the Holy Land. I have been here in the last three days.
“The Holy Land is peaceful. Jerusalem is at peace and will continue to be at peace,” Adegbite said.
“The ban on Christian Pilgrimage from Nigeria to Israel is hereby lifted from today.”
He explained that the lifting of the ban would permit pilgrims from Nigeria to travel through the Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel but not go to Jordan, which is not yet safe for now.
Bishop Adegbite stressed that Jerusalem is a chosen nation and that everyone who sets foot in the Promised Land of Jerusalem shall be blessed, while every prayer offered in Jerusalem shall be answered.
The NCPC helmsman reiterated that all pilgrims who travelled to the Holy Land have returned safely, and promised that the 2026 pilgrimage would record similar success.
