…President scores 4,996 in his ward
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed the huge turnout of All Progressives Congress, (APC), members during the presidential direct primary, describing it as the beauty of democracy.
He urged party members and all Nigerians to troop out during next year’s elections to cast their votes as a patriotic duty to the nation.
President Tinubu and his wife, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who arrived at his Ward L2, Ireti Primary School, Mekwen, Eti-Osa, Ikoyi around 11.34 am, were accompanied by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Within minutes, the president and first lady were accredited by the party’s electoral officers, led by the Returning Oficer, Martha Adukwu.
They were received by former the state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, Wale Edun, Trade and Investment Minister Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member Alhaji Mutiu Are, and House of Assembly member Gbolahan Yishau and other local party leaders.
Party members turned out in large number, waving their party identification cards and singing the Tinubu anthem: ‘On your mandate we stand.’
Decked in a blue kaftan with a blue cap to match, the president joined the accreditation line, amid hailing by party members.
At the close of poll, Adukwu announced that President Tinubu scored 4,996 votes.
The returning officer said there were 5,163 registered party members in the ward.
His opponent, Osifo, scored zero.
The president applauded the exercise, saying that he was impressed by the huge turn out.
He said reports reaching him from other state chapters affirmed that the shadow poll was peaceful and orderly.
