The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has directed Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu and the entire technical crew to step down from their positions with immediate effect, DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports.
The football governing body confirmed the decision in a short statement released via its official X account.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the NFF stated.
The development comes on the back of the Super Falcons’ disappointing outing at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Nigeria’s campaign ended in the quarter-finals following a 1-0 defeat to fierce rivals Cameroon.
The 10-time African champions also suffered a setback in their bid to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after losing 2-1 to South Africa, a result that denied them a place in the inter-confederation playoffs.
Madugu had faced growing criticism following the team’s underwhelming performances at the competition, with pressure mounting on the NFF to make changes to the coaching set-up.
The federation has not yet named a replacement for Madugu or announced a new technical crew for the Super Falcons.
