Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been accused of paying Nigerians living in the United Kingdom to come out and cheer for his father 500 pounds equals about 900000 naira at current rates with T-shirt.
The alleged incident took place during the president’s state visit to Britain on March 18 and 19, 2026.
The visit itself was seen as historic, with King Charles III and Queen Camilla hosting the Nigerian president and his wife at Windsor Castle. The event included formal meetings and a state banquet, drawing attention from both local and international audiences.
In one short video, a lady who went with her APC friend secretly recorded the moment money was being shared. She sent the clip to bloggers. She explained that on the first day people collected 200 pounds each and on the second day they collected 500 pounds each.
They also received APC party shirts to wear so the crowd would look big and lively. Other clips show groups waving Nigerian flags singing the On Your Mandate song and shouting support on London streets.
Many Nigerians at home see this as buying support for propaganda and a clear waste of funds especially when families back home face hunger hardship and no steady electricity.
Reactions online are hot with plenty of anger. Some people call it shameful and say it shows how cheap some folks can be for money while citizens suffer.
A popular British content creator known as Oyinbo Naija Boy made a strong video message. He said Nigerians are suffering and dying of hunger, yet Seyi Tinubu and his father shared 500 pounds each with lazy youths in the UK just to get cheers. He called the whole thing shameful and disappointing.
