Arrangements have been concluded by Methodist Church Nigeria, Archdiocese of Abuja to host the 42nd Council of Bishops in Abuja from Monday 30th June to Monday 7th July 2025.
According to a statement by the Chairman, Publicity Sub Committee of 2025 Bishop Hosting Central Planning Committee, Sir ‘Tunde Babalola KJW, JP, the opening session of the Council would hold by 10am on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025 at the Methodist Cathedral of Unity, Wuse, Abuja.
The theme of the Council tagged Abuja 2025 is “He will Rise Again”, John 11:23.
The statement added that His Grace, Most Revd Dr Michael Olusegun Akinwale, the Methodist Archbishop of Abuja is the Chief Host while the Secretary of Conference, Rt Revd Dr Babatunde Taiwo; Bishop, Diocese of Nyanya, Rt Revd J. Kehinde Adeyemi PhD; Bishop, Diocese of Kubwa, Rt Revd Dr F. A.G Onoja and Bishop, Diocese of Niger, Rt Revd Basil Pozonlin are the Hosts.
The statement added that the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, (NCPC), Rt Revd S.T.V. Adegbite PhD, and The Executive Secretary of Christian Council of Nigeria, (CCN), Rt Revd Evans Onyemara, PhD are Co-Hosts.

In a related development, the 13th Bishops wives’ summit with the President of National Women Fellowship & Bishops Wives’ Summit, Deaconess Ezinne Maria O. ABA JP as chairperson would be held simultaneously.
The wife of Abuja Archbishop, Nneoma Mopelola Oluwatoyin Akinwale is the Chief Host with the wives of Bishops in Nyanya, Kubwa and Niger Dioceses assisting her.
The Central Planning Committee of the 42nd Council of Bishops was chaired by the Lay President, Abuja Archdiocese, Sir AVM John Kayode-Beckley, PhD while Very Revd Anenechukwu C. Ede PhD served as the Secretary of the CPC.

The CPC has concluded all arrangements to mobilize all Methodist faithful in Abuja Archdiocese of Nigeria’s premier Church – The Methodist Church Nigeria to welcome the Bishops.
The statement concluded that there would be special presentations for the Bishops from Tuesday to Saturday when the Prelate’s Party would hold by 5pm.
The Methodist Council of Bishops is the apex leadership body of the Methodist Church Nigeria.
The body comprises of over 125 Bishops and Archbishops headed by The Prelate, His Eminence Dr Oliver Ali Aba, JP.
The Council deliberates on national and international issues, proffer solutions to national issues, and would also pray for continued peace, progress, development and stability of Nigeria.
