The Director General, National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Mr Olugbile Holloway who at present in the United States of America has successfully secures the repatriation of some artefacts back to Nigeria.

According to him, “On Wednesday, October 8th, I visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to see the three Nigerian pieces from Ceil Pulitzer’s private collection, recently displayed to the public through our Friends of Nigeria’s cultural heritage initiative.”

DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that this initiative facilitated by the MET, marks a milestone agreement that, for the first time, allows pieces from private collections to be on long-term display at the MET and eventually transfer ownership back to Nigeria.
Holloway said “This agreement builds on a long-standing history of collaboration between our two institutions.

”I thank Max Hollein and the entire team at the MET for their cooperation and remain confident that this agreement signals the beginning of even more impactful and innovative initiatives to come.”
