The National Association of Nigerian Students, (NANS), National Council, has announced that the disbursement of students’ upkeep allowances under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) will resume next week following the successful completion of the upgrade of the payment platform.
The announcement was made by the National Vice President of NANS National Council, Akinteye Babatunde, popularly known as BABTEE, who assured Nigerian students that all outstanding upkeep allowances would be paid.
According to him, the platform upgrade, which temporarily affected the payment process, has now been completed, paving the way for the commencement of disbursements between Monday and Friday next week.
He explained that beneficiaries would receive all outstanding upkeep payments covering every month owed to them up to the present, describing the development as a major relief for thousands of students across the country.
“I am pleased to finally assure all Nigerian students that the ongoing upgrade of the NELFUND payment platform has been completed,” Babatunde stated.
“With this development, the disbursement of students’ upkeep allowances will commence between Monday and Friday next week. Beneficiaries will receive all outstanding payments, covering every month they are owed up to the present.”
The student leader expressed appreciation to Nigerian students for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the period of the platform upgrade.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the association to working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that students receive their entitlements promptly and without unnecessary delays.
Babatunde further assured students that NANS would continue to monitor the implementation of the payment process while advocating policies and initiatives that promote the welfare and educational advancement of Nigerian students.
