The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has warned all banking institutions against opening account for the sales of nomination forms by the Tanimu Turaki-Led faction of the party.
Wike threatened to de-robe Turaki as Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) if he attempted to open an account for the sales of nomination form despite the Supreme Court’s nullification of the Ibadan 2025 convention where he emerged as the leader of the party.
The FCT Minister gave the threat while addressing newsmen during his monthly media parley on Wednesday.
He challenged Turaki to attempt creating an account for the form sales, stressing that the certificate of incorporation reuqired to open the account is with the party’s factional national secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
“Can they open an account and tell PDP members who want to buy form and contest election that pay to this number, this is the bank.
“First of all, that bank will be in trouble. That bank will be in trouble because for you to open an account, you must have the certificate of incorporation. Who has it? It is the secretary of the party.
“Let me see any bank that will go and open an account. That bank will be in trouble. Let Turaki, a Senior Advocate as signatory and see whether he will not be de-robed.” Wike said.
The FCT Minister further labelled the Turaki-led faction as criminals, recalling the Supreme Court judgement.
He accused the faction of plot to defraud Nigerians with its plan to sell nomination form.
“You can’t stop people who want to be criminals. The only way we can stop them is by applying the law.
“You went to court and this is a judgement against you.
“You have also gone and appeal and you are not waiting for the appeal. You have now come to say Supreme Court have said no more NWC. So, the BoT has taken over.
“Is it not fraud? You are going to sell fraud. That is duping Nigeria. If you are sure, like we are doing now in PDP secretariat where you are given bank account to pay money, let Turaki as a Senior Advocate open an account of PDP. That day, that sic will be removed.
“I dare him to open an account and tell Nigerians, tell party people that this is an account where you will pay for PDP.” He added.
