‎Sunday Sermon: Your Choice Determines  Your Voice – Choosing Faith, Wisdoms and Godliness in a Troubled World By Pastor Prof Durodola Olujide Ajani JP

‎Text: JOSHUA 24:15 (KJV)

‎”And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

‎INTRODUCTION

‎We are living in a defining season characterised by forthcoming elections, political manoeuvring, economic hardship, social and physical insecurity, environmental challenges, and global uncertainty.

‎Every day, different voices compete for our attention: the voices of fear, anger, frustration, politics, social media, and public opinion.

‎But as believers, the question is not how loud the voices around us are, but which voice influences our choices and determines our response?

‎Our choices reveal our convictions, and our convictions shape our voices.

‎Joshua understood this when he declared: “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

‎In this generation, believers must make deliberate choices that reflect their faith in God.

‎1. CHOOSE WISDOM OVER POLITICAL SENTIMENTS

‎Scripture: 1 Timothy 2:1–2; Proverbs 29:2.

‎As elections approach, political arguments and competing interests will increase. Believers must not allow political loyalty to destroy Christian love and unity.

‎Pray for the nation, seek credible information, respect different opinions, reject political violence, and exercise your civic responsibilities peacefully.

‎Our loyalty to Christ must remain greater than our loyalty to any political personality or party.

‎2. CHOOSE FAITH OVER FEAR

‎Scripture: Psalm 46:1–2; 2 Timothy 1:7.

‎In the face of insecurity and uncertainty, we must not surrender to fear. Trust God, remain prayerful, exercise wisdom, and take necessary security precautions.

‎Faith does not mean denying danger; it means trusting God while acting responsibly.

‎3. CHOOSE CONTENTMENT AND WISDOM OVER ECONOMIC PRESSURE

‎Scripture: Philippians 4:12–13; Proverbs 21:20.

‎Economic hardship must not become an excuse for corruption, dishonesty, or desperation.

‎Learn to manage resources, work diligently, avoid unhealthy comparisons, and remain generous even in difficult times.

‎Remember, your present economic condition must not determine your character or destroy your hope.

‎4. CHOOSE GODLY CHARACTER OVER WORLDLY PRESSURE

‎Scripture: Romans 12:2; 1 Samuel 16:7.

‎In a world where compromise is increasingly celebrated, believers must stand for truth, integrity, humility, purity, forgiveness, and righteousness.

‎Our Christianity must go beyond religious activities to our everyday conduct.

‎Your character is your daily sermon, and your conduct is your public testimony.

‎5. CHOOSE TO BE A VOICE OF HOPE AND LIGHT

‎Scripture: Matthew 5:14–16; Ephesians 5:8.

‎God has not called us to join the confusion of our generation but to become instruments of positive transformation.

‎Be a voice of peace in a divided society, hope in difficult times, truth in an age of deception, and love in a world filled with hatred.

‎Do not merely complain about the darkness; become a vessel through which God’s light shines.

‎SEVEN DECISIONS EVERY BELIEVER MUST MAKE

‎1. Faith over fear – 2 Timothy 1:7.

‎2. Wisdom over ignorance – James 1:5.

‎3. Prayer over anxiety – Philippians 4:6–7.

‎4. Peace over hostility – Matthew 5:9.

‎5. Integrity over compromise – Proverbs 10:9.

‎6. Love over hatred – 1 Corinthians 13:4–7.

‎7. God’s Kingdom over worldly pressure – Matthew 6:33.

‎PROPHETIC DECLARATION

‎In the name of Jesus Christ:

‎My choices shall reflect my faith, not my fears.

‎My voice shall communicate hope, wisdom, and righteousness.

‎I shall not compromise my convictions for political, social, or material benefits.

‎In the midst of economic and social challenges, God shall grant me wisdom, strength, and provision.

‎My family shall walk in peace, divine protection, and godly wisdom.

‎I shall be a positive voice and an instrument of transformation in my generation.

‎In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!

‎CONCLUSION: WHAT WILL YOUR VOICE SAY?

‎Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJV)

‎”I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”

‎Beloved, the world is full of competing voices, but not every voice deserves your attention or agreement.

‎As believers, we must not allow the pressure of our environment to determine the quality of our Christian lives.

‎Let your choices reflect your faith, your words communicate hope, your actions demonstrate love, and your character reveals Christ.

‎Remember: Your choice determines your voice; your voice influences your environment, and your character validates your confession.

‎May our choices honour God, our voices glorify Christ, and our lives become testimonies of His grace. Amen!

‎Have a blessed and victorious month, Amen!
