Veteran Nigerian actor and film producer Solomon Akiyesi has died, with reports confirming that he passed away in his sleep.
The news was confirmed on Monday by the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, in an interview with TheCable Lifestyle.
According to Yakubu, the actor died on Sunday and did not wake up after going to bed.
“Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. Slept and did not wake up from sleep. We await further details from the family. His body is in the morgue in Abuja where the sad incident happened,” he said.
He added that Akiyesi’s body has been deposited in a mortuary in Abuja, while the guild is awaiting official information from his family regarding the circumstances of his death.
Born in Ososo community in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Akiyesi began his acting career in the late 1990s and went on to become a familiar face in Nollywood.
Over the years, he featured in more than 100 films, earning a reputation as a versatile character actor and producer.
DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that his film credits include Marry Who You Love, Kiss My Pain, Joy of Nakasha, Heart of a Saint, Deadly Affair, Gen Z Wife, Olaedo The Fisher Girl, Pretty Liars, The End Is Near, and Desperate Ladies.
