A former pastor in Ondo State, Olabanjo Felix Gold, has announced his decision to leave Christianity and embrace Ìṣẹ̀ṣe, the indigenous Yoruba spiritual tradition.
Olabanjo, who previously founded the Image of God Evangelical and Prophetic Ministries, made the disclosure in a video shared online.
In the video, the former cleric introduced himself by his new spiritual name, Ifawamiri Aworan Olodumare, and identified himself as a Babalawo practising Ifá.
He explained that his spiritual journey had taken him from Christianity to the traditional Yoruba religious practice.
Olabanjo also expressed appreciation to traditional spiritual elders whom he credited with guiding him through the transition.
Among those he acknowledged was his Oluwo, Baba Aifuwapẹ, whom he identified as Oluṣẹgun Latunji, the Araba of Isararemọ.
The former pastor also thanked other individuals who, according to him, supported and mentored him during his journey into indigenous spiritual practice.
He further declared his rejection of Christianity and other foreign religions, saying he was now committed to Ìṣẹ̀ṣe.
Olabanjo described the foreign faiths as false and maintained that Ìṣẹ̀ṣe represented the authentic spiritual path.
His announcement has generated reactions on social media, particularly because of his previous identity as a Christian pastor and his role as the founder of an evangelical ministry.
The development has also drawn attention to his public transition from Christian ministry to the traditional Yoruba spiritual system.
