TEXT: JEREMIAH 33:14-16
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Today, we live in a world that is increasingly chaotic. We are surrounded by uncertainty, fear, and anxiety. The news is filled with stories of conflict, violence, and natural disasters. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and hopeless.
But as Christians, we have a different perspective. We know that despite the chaos and uncertainty of the world, God is still in control. He is still sovereign, still loving, and still faithful.
In Jeremiah 33:14-16, God promises to bring restoration and hope to His people. He says, “The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the gracious promise I made to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land.”
This promise is a reminder that no matter what is happening in the world, God is still working out His plan of redemption. He is still bringing hope and restoration to His people.
I’d like to illustrate this with a story. Imagine you’re on a plane that’s flying through a severe storm. The turbulence is intense, and the plane is shaking violently. You’re feeling anxious and scared, wondering if the plane will make it through the storm.
But then, you look over and see the pilot calmly flying the plane. He’s not panicking, and he’s not worried. He’s simply doing his job, trusting in the plane’s instruments and his own training to get you through the storm.
As Christians, we need to be like that pilot. We need to trust in God’s sovereignty and faithfulness, even when the storms of life are raging around us. We need to look up and lift up our heads, knowing that our redemption is drawing near.
As we look around us, it’s easy to feel like the chaos is overwhelming. But Jesus reminds us in Luke 21:25-36 that we must not give up hope. He says, “Look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
We can trust in God’s faithfulness and love, just like the Psalmist did in Psalm 25:1-10. We can say with confidence, “To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God.”
And as the apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 3:9-13, we must always give thanks to God for His faithfulness and love. We must always remember that He is our hope and our salvation.
So let us hold onto this hope today. Let us lift up our heads and look to Jesus, our Redeemer and our Saviour. Let us trust in His faithfulness and love, and let us always give thanks to Him for His goodness and mercy.
May God bless you and give you hope in the midst of chaos. Amen.
