Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Kubwa has tasked the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to stop rhetorics and tackle the problem of insecurity frontally for Nigerians to appreciate the laudable efforts of his government in infrastructural development and other spheres of life.
The Diocese gave the advise in the communique issued at the end of her 13th Annual Synod held at Immanuel Methodist Church, Bwari Circuit between Thursday April 24th to Sunday, April 27th 2025.
The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr Oliver Ali Aba JP had in his address to Synod gave detailed record of his administration successes in the last two years and announced that MCN Television studio which has been in the pipeline for decades would be opened soon having acquired all the necessary equipment and gadgets.
Signed by the Chairman of the Synod, the Diocesan Bishop, The Rt Revd Dr Fredrick A. G. Onoja; the Lay President , Diocese of Kubwa, Elder James Uchechukwu Duru FCTI, FCA and The Very Revd Dr Samuel Jephthah Friday, DCF, the Synod Secretary, the Synod observed that “the Nigerian nation has been bedeviled by all manners of violence, herdsmen crises, Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgency, terrorism and banditry in virtually all parts of Nigeria, there is virtually no safe place in any part of the federation, Synod then urged the Nigerian Government to step up their method of securing lives and properties as well as to create State Police to address insecurity frontally.”

The Synod however commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Local Government Autonomy but urged that the National Assembly and the President to see to its full implementation so that the Council areas would be able to leave up to expectations of the citizenry.

“Synod noted that despite political uncertainty among the political class, Nigerians especially Christians are urged to participate actively in politics and vote during elections.
“Synod urged Government to make electricity band friendly by removing Band A, B, C…and give the citizens general tariff to pay as they use.

“Synod observed that corruption has eaten too deep into the fabrics and soul of every level of governance in Nigeria and has almost strangulated Nigeria such that the watch-dogs established by government, namely the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), and even the Courts have become incapacitated and ineffective in playing their roles, thus being defeated by the corruption that they were established to fight.

“Synod is disturbed that the present Federal Government was voted into power because it assured Nigerians that it will wipe away corruption from the nation, yet achieving this looks like a mirage. In this regard, it URGES Government at all levels to reposition themselves with more determination to fight, win, without any doubt, the war against the menace of corruption. There is the palpable fear that corruption may kill Nigeria if Nigeria fails to kill corruption.”
The Church commiserated with the sister church – the Roman Catholic on the demise of the Catholic Pontiff.
“Synod Commiserated with the Roman Catholic Church on the demise of the Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis and urged that the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine as well as Gaza, Palestine and Israel be terminated to avoid unnecessary destruction of lives and property in honour of the late Pope who stood for peace”, the communique added.
