‎WAFCON 2026: Babajide Named POTM In Super Falcons’ Rout Of Egypt

‎Omorinsola Babajide was named Player of the Match, POTM, after inspiring Nigeria’s commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt’s Cleopatras at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports.

‎Making her first appearance of the tournament, Babajide delivered an impressive display, providing two assists in the thrilling Group C encounter.

‎The winger created Nigeria’s second goal just before halftime, setting up substitute Gift Monday in the 41st minute.

‎She also laid on the Super Falcons’ fourth goal for another substitute, Uchenna Kanu, with nine minutes remaining.

‎Babajide becomes the second Nigerian player to win the Player of the Match award at the 2026 WAFCON finals.

‎Defender Michelle Alozie was the first recipient after her standout performance in Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Zambia in the group’s second match.

‎The 10-time African champions will now shift their attention to the quarter-finals, where they are set to face the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in Casablanca on Sunday.
