Sunday Sermon: Divine Favour For Advancement By Pastor Prof Durodola O. A.

Text: Psalm 84:11, the Psalmist declares, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless

Introduction
As we step into the month of March, a season of renewal and fresh beginnings, the Spirit of God is stirring our hearts to position ourselves for unprecedented favour and advancement. In a world where opportunities are abundant, but competition is fierce, it’s easy to get lost in the crowd. However, as children of the Most High, we’re called to operate on a different frequency – a frequency of divine favour.

In Psalm 84:11, the Psalmist declares, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” This scripture reveals the heart of our loving Father, who longs to lavish us with favour, honour, and every good thing. It is a song of longing, written by King David, who yearned for the presence of God. He remembered the joy of worshipping in the temple, and his heart ached to return to that place of intimacy with God. David declares his confidence in God’s favour, knowing that it’s the key to unlocking every blessing.

What does it mean to walk in divine favour? How can we position ourselves to receive this unprecedented blessing?

So, what is divine favour? Simply put, divine favour is God’s gracious and unmerited blessing upon our lives. It’s the supernatural empowerment that enables us to succeed, even when the odds are against us. When we walk in divine favour, we experience:

  • Unmerited Blessings: God pours out His blessings upon us, not because we deserve them, but because of His loving-kindness (Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Corinthians 9:8).
  • Supernatural Empowerment: We receive the strength and ability to accomplish great things, beyond our natural capabilities (2 Corinthians 3:5, Philippians 4:13).
  • Open Doors: God opens doors of opportunity, providing us with access to people, places, and resources that would otherwise be out of reach (Revelation 3:8, Isaiah 22:22).

So, how can we position ourselves to receive divine favour?

  • Walk Blamelessly: Psalm 84:11 says that God bestows favour upon those whose walk is blameless. This means living a life of integrity, honesty, and obedience to God’s Word (Proverbs 10:9, 1 John 3:3).
  • Seek God’s Presence: David’s longing for God’s presence was the key to unlocking divine favour in his life. We must prioritize our relationship with God, seeking Him above all else (Psalm 27:4, Matthew 6:33).
  • Trust in God’s Goodness: We must trust that God is good, and that He desires to bless us. When we trust in His goodness, we open ourselves up to receive His favour (Psalm 100:5, Romans 8:28).

Conclusion
As we enter this new month, I encourage you to position yourself for divine favour. Seek God’s presence, walk blamelessly, and trust in His goodness. Remember, divine favour is not something we earn, but something we receive as a result of our relationship with God.

As you walk in divine favour, you’ll experience unprecedented advancement in every area of your life. You’ll receive unmerited blessings, supernatural empowerment, and open doors of opportunity. So, get ready to unlock the gates of divine favour and watch as God takes you to new heights! (Isaiah 60:1-2, 1 Peter 5:6-7)
